A New Option for TNCC Renewal
Emergency nurses renewing their verification for the Trauma Nursing Core Course can now do so in only a day thanks to ENA’s new TNCC 1-Day Renewal.
Recognized by hospitals
and trauma centers
worldwide, TNCC –
currently in its seventh
edition – empowers
nurses with the
knowledge, critical
thinking skills and
hands-on application to
provide expert care for
trauma patients. Many
hospitals want to provide this valuable education for their
staff emergency nurses but find the two-day course hard to
work into their schedules.
“The bottom line is, hospitals and nurses can’t afford to take
two days out of their schedule every four years to take a
two-day course,” said Susan M. Douglass, MSN, RN, CEN, who
has taught the TNCC course since its start several decades ago.
She said there aren’t enough
changes to the content to
justify taking a two-day
course every four years. She
also said the one-day version
helps nurses and organizations financially.
“Some of these hospitals are
very good about paying for
their nurses to attend these courses, plus paying for the
courses, plus paying for their time off,” Douglass said. “But it’s
an expense.”
